I’ve played a key role in establishing Ogilvy Cape Town as the leading Integrated and Digital Agency in South Africa over the past 9 years. The agency has been voted Most Digitally Integrated Agency in South Africa in 2018 and 2017 by MarkLives Agency Leader Poll. In 2015 and 2017 Ogilvy Cape Town was awarded Digital Agency of The Year and was also awarded Agency of the Year in 2013 and 2014 by Financial Mail’s AdFocus Awards.
After a 4 year roller coaster through Art School; I kicked-off my career at Young & Rubicam Cape Town as a junior Art Director, a year later I dodged the apartheid military machine and moved to New York, joining Della Femina McNamee.
In 1995 I founded Electric Ocean, one of the first digital agencies globally. After a run of 4 years as the top ranking Digital Agency in South Africa, I sold Electric Ocean to FCB Africa and took up a position in San Francisco, as joint VP Creative Director at Phoenix-Pop.
5 years in San Francisco then another 4 years on commission in LA, after which I joined Ogilvy Cape Town as the National Creative Director for OgilvyOne in 2009. Moving into my present position as the Associate ECD for Ogilvy Cape Town in 2016. The role of ‘Associate’ ECD in the context of Ogilvy encompasses among the expected responsibilities of an ECD - primarily nurturing a collaboration of ideas by a 45 person studio in digital, social, film, experiential, print, audio, PR & design.
I serve on both the Ogilvy South Africa Executive Board & the Ogilvy Cape Town management team.
